Betty Dilley Obituary

Betty Lou Dilley, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023, in Casey Health Care Center in Casey, IL.

Betty was born on August 18, 1935, in Tower Hill Township in Shelby County, the daughter of Ira and Minerva Jane (Chism) Milligan.  On May 14, 1954, Betty married the love of her life, Dale Edward Dilley, in Shelbyville. The couple celebrated 48 beautiful years of marriage before Dale's passing on September 1, 2002.  Betty's dedication to her community was evident in her work as a beloved Brownie and Girl Scouts leader for many years. She cherished the memories and friendships she made during her time as a leader, touching the lives of countless young girls and helping to shape them into strong, confident women.  An avid lover of the outdoors, Betty enjoyed spending time in nature, whether it was going for walks or simply sitting outside and taking in the beauty of her surroundings. Her other hobbies included playing cards, caring for her dogs, and spending precious moments with her family. Betty's life was characterized by her unwavering love for her family and friends, and she was always there to lend a listening ear or offer words of encouragement.

Betty is survived by her grandson, Matthew (Ashley) Dilley; granddaughter, Michelle Dilley (David Kerr); brother, Homer (Blanche) Milligan of Flagstaff, AZ; sister, Dorothy Bond, and many cherished great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; son, Dale Eugene Dilley; grandson, Dale Aaron Dilley; brothers: Charles, Bill, Ira, Dean, and Jim; sisters: Retha Agney and Violet Shelton, and daughter-in-law, Carol Dilley.
