Betty Lou Ohnesorge, 85, of Stewardson, IL passed away at 4:37 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, IL.
Betty was born on February 22, 1935, in Effingham, the daughter of Oscar and Melva (Moran) Kessler. Betty and Melvin Eugene “Gene” Ohnesorge were united in holy matrimony on July 19, 1953, in Stewardson, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before his passing on July 23, 2013. Together they tended to the farm and raised their six beautiful children. Betty was a longtime member of the Stewardson United Methodist Church where she was baptized in 1936. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, bowling and square dancing with Gene.
Surviving are six children: Kim (Larry) Montgomery of Windsor, Cathy (Jeff) Montgomery of Windsor, Todd (Wanda) Ohnesorge of Stewardson, Robin (John) Storm of Effingham, Angie (Joe) Flinn of Dieterich and Sonya Overbeck of Neoga; 18 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Kenneth (Marilyn) Kessler of Stewardson and Keith Kessler of Indiana and sister, Bonnie (Laverne) Apke of Montrose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Edwin and sister Delores.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Stewardson United Methodist Church. Private family services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Stewardson United Methodist Church with Reverend David Ducommon officiating. Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Betty’s name to Heartland Senior Living and mailed to Brummerstedt Funeral Home, %Betty Ohnesorge, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565. Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson is assisting the family.
