Brett Schoenfeld Obituary

Brett R. Schoenfeld was called to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with his family by his side, on May 19, 2019.

Brett was born August 2, 1963, in St. Louis, MO, to Dale and Joyce Schoenfeld. He grew up playing hockey in the St. Louis area, where his older brothers and sisters would bring their friends because they knew he would probably get into a fight on the ice. He moved to Beecher City, IL with his family where he would go on to graduate from Beecher City High School. Brett then enlisted in the Marine Corps where he was known to be a "Marine's Marine." He was honorably discharged from service in 1990 at the rank of Sergeant. Soon after, he fell in love with Renee who became his wife on May 25, 1991. Brett worked as an alignment technician at Al's Tire Mart for over 20 years until he retired. Brett was an avid Cardinals, Blues and Mizzou fan and had a passion for deer hunting, riding motorcycles and just having a good time with family and friends. He was a long-time member of the American Legion, Marine Corps League and 40/8th.

He leaves behind his wife, Renee of Beecher City; son, Joey (Katrina) of Wentzville, MO; daughter, Casey (Chris) Overbeck of Casey, IL; Yeray and Alby Rayo Moreno of Madrid, Spain; mother, Joyce Schoenfeld of Beecher City; sisters: Jackie (Dan) Ditmeyer and Suzi (Greg) Rice all of St. Louis, MO; brothers: Chris Schoenfeld of Bloomington, IL and Mark Schoenfeld of Beecher City; grandchildren: Rece, Luke, Jack, Nina and Myah; mother-in-law, Nancy Burke of Effingham, IL; granddogs: Bob, Brewsky and Bolt and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; father, Dale Schoenfeld; father-in-law, Ronald Burke and special friends, Mike Knabe and Kashief Turner.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City with military rites at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Legion. Suits, ties and anything with a Cubs logo are highly discouraged, in favor of jeans and your favorite Cardinals or Blues attire.
