Obituary

It is with heavy hearts, yet with gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Clayton W. Faulkner, 86, of Herrick, on August 29, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of family.

Clayton was born on February 3, 1937, in Greenville, Missouri, to Dallas and Lela (Grigery) Faulkner.  He was a man of great integrity, hard work, and commitment. He started his professional journey as a logger at a very young age in Missouri. This early experience ignited a passion for the outdoors that he carried with him throughout his life. Clayton went on to own and operate his own successful logging business, Faulkner Logging. Besides his logging endeavors, Clayton raised livestock and tended to the family farm in Fayette County, demonstrating his love for nature and the outdoors.  He married the love of his life, Maralia Fouts on September 18, 1960, and they celebrated 59 joyous years together before her passing on November 4, 2019.  Clayton's true passion was hard work. From a very young age, he was always working in the timber and on the farm. Yet, he made sure to balance his work with family time, cherishing family gatherings every Sunday. These gatherings were a testament to his dedication to his family and his belief in the strength of family bonds.

Surviving are his children:  Clayton Faulkner Jr of Herrick, Pam (Ron) Baker of Mattoon, and Sheila (Kevin) Cutler of Lakewood; grandchildren:  Jessica (Jason) Bunch, Ryan Collins, Michael (Holly) Hart, Sophia (Doug) Kutz, Shelby (Ryan) Redmon and Luke Baker; step-grandchildren:  Logan (Jessica) Cutler and Jordon Cutler; great-grandchildren:  Blake Collins, Mackenzie Bunch, Kyle Collins, Harleigh Bunch, Braylen Bunch, Gage Hart, Clayton Collins, Boone Collins, Anna Hart, Trey Hart, Theodore Redmon and Lydia Redmon; step-great-grandchildren:  Kasen Cutler, Brooklie Cutler and Everlee Cutler and siblings:  Mildred “Babe”, Wilma, Mary, Janet, and Roger.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Maralia; sister, Ruth Ann and two nephews, Jeff and Buckeye.
