Danny Leon Bland Sr.

Danny Leon Bland Sr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2023, in Shelbyville, Illinois.  Born on September 16, 1960, in Pana, Illinois, to Harold and Sarah (Smith) Bland, Danny was known for his hard work, love for family and friends, and a zest for life that was truly infectious.

Danny's life was rich with love and laughter. In 2007, he married the love of his life, Bryce Doughty. Together, they built a life full of love, respect, and mutual support. Danny's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bryce Bland of Shelbyville; his loving daughter, Lacey Barnes of Terre Haute, Indiana; nine cherished grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brothers, Steve Smith of Kentucky, Brent Bland of Pana, and Wylie (Shannon) Smith of Shelbyville; and several adored nieces and nephews.

Danny was predeceased by his parents, his sons Brandon Elliott Bland and Danny Leon Bland Jr., and his siblings Orvil and Kelly. Each of them held a special place in his heart and their memories will always be treasured.

Danny was a dedicated employee at Graphic Packaging in Shelbyville for 30 years. Beyond his work, Danny had a deep love for demolition derbies, which he enjoyed with his brothers. He was also a car enthusiast and enjoyed spending time working on his cars.  Danny also had a passion for singing karaoke.  Above all, Danny valued time spent with family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on a later date.  Memorials may be made in Danny’s name to the American Cancer Society and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main Street, Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
