Danny Lee Doris, 63, of Bradley, IL, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2023, in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.
Danny was born on March 31, 1960, in Kankakee, the son of Russell and Opal (Betourne) Doris. He married Elaine Grueneberg on October 1, 1983, in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kankakee. Danny was employed at Pepsi in Kankakee for 43 years. He enjoyed NASCAR but most of all he enjoyed spending weekends in Shelbyville fishing, camping, and boating. During the winters he traveled and vacationed in Florida. Danny was a beloved coach and the President of the Bradley Lions Midget Football Program. He volunteered with the program for over 30 years, where he helped win multiple Superbowl Championships, but also throughout the off season, Danny spent many weekends taking care of and overseeing many upgrades at Rudy’s Memorial Park. Rudy’s Memorial Park was the Lions practice and playing field. Danny helped to make it the premier Midget Football Sports Park and the Program it is today.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine of Bradley; daughter and son-in-law, Sara (Adam) Wozny of Kankakee; son, Chad Doris of Bradley; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sharon (Mike) Kent of Bourbonnais, Diana Cullins of Florida, and Debra (David) Zajc of Bourbonnais; grandson, Topher Wozny, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Bruce Cullins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 12:00-4:00 p.m. in the Bradley Bourbonnais Sportsmen’s Club, 2672 Cheppewa Drive, Bourbonnais, IL 60914. Private inurnment will take place in Maternity Cemetery in Bourbonnais at a later date. Memorials may be given to the donor’s favorite charity.
