David L. Gaston

David L. Gaston, 77, of Lakewood, IL passed away at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.

David was born on May 14, 1942, in Lakewood, the son of Charles and Velma (Carey) Gaston. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1961-1970. David and Mary Sutton were united in holy matrimony on June 15, 1963 in Grafton, IL and were blessed with 56 years of marriage. David retired from Caterpillar, Inc. where he worked as a welder for 20 years. He enjoyed flying model airplanes, water skiing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his lovely wife, Mary Gaston of Lakewood; three daughters: Michele (Michael) Whitlatch, Kimberly (Lyndell) Brewer and Nadine Schnell, all of Lakewood; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Patricia Bird of Cowden, Bonnie Munson of Pana and Peggy (Bob) Hakenjos of Michigan; brother, Darrell (Karen) Gaston of Shelbyville and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.

Private family services will be held with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
