Dennis Dale Blankenship, 65, of Beecher City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023, in Effingham, Illinois. Born on January 16, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida to Cecil and Alice (Masters) Blankenship.
Dennis was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served his country with honor and distinction. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career with Yellow Freight, driving trucks for nearly 20 years. An avid outdoorsman, Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. His true passion, however, was bass fishing in his beloved home state of Florida. He spent countless hours on the water, honing his skills and enjoying the peaceful serenity of nature. His adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were infectious, inspiring others to explore and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
Dennis is survived by his significant other, Sharon Waugh of Beecher City, Illinois and nephew, Michael Blankenship of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Dennis will be laid to rest with military honors in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. Dennis will be remembered for his interesting and adventurous nature, as well as his strong sense of integrity. He was a loyal friend and a true American patriot. His impact on the lives of those who knew him will not be forgotten, and his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
