Donald "Don" D. Durbin

Donald “Don” D. Durbin, 52, of Mode, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson with Pastor Linda Trent officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.   Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the C.O.W.S. Playground Fund, the Stewardson Cemetery, or the donor’s favorite charity.  Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson is assisting the family.   

Don was born on January 17, 1971, in Mattoon, the son of Fred and Pauline (Haycraft) Durbin.  He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in 1989.  Don was a skilled bricklayer, owning and operating Don Durbin Masonry.  He also worked for Waldhoff Repair.  Don married Brooke Wallace on November 29, 2001.  To this union was born Dane Robert.

Don was a devoted and loving husband and father.  He had a tough exterior but had one of the biggest hearts you could ever know.  He was always willing to lend a hand.  Don had a talent for masonry work for over 25 years.  Whether it was brick, stone, or tuckpointing, his craftsmanship always resulted in the highest standard.

Don will be lovingly missed by his wife, Brooke; son, Dane Robert; parents, Fred and Pauline Durbin; brothers, Steve (Kathy) Durbin, Scott (Penny) Durbin, Wayne Durbin (Carrie Jackson), Mike Durbin, David (Glenda) Durbin, and Jason (Katie) Durbin; mother-in-law, Kimberly Wallace; sister-in-law, Rhiannon (Shane) Klier, and special nieces Ella and Addy Klier.

He was preceded in death by his brother Paul Durbin.
