Floyd R. Tucker, 88, of Cowden, Illinois passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, Illinois surrounded by his loving family.
Floyd was born on March 28, 1931, in Loudon Township, the son of Francis Lee and Faye Rosalie (Brunk) Tucker. Floyd and Peggy Ann White were united in holy matrimony on August 10, 1950, in Cowden, and were blessed with 69 years of marriage. Floyd was a Korean War Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for the Village of Cowden as the Water Superintendent for 27 years and was the Dry Point Township Road Commissioner for 18 years. Floyd truly enjoyed working but did take time off now and again to do some hunting. He was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Cowden, the Greenland Masonic Lodge #665 of Beecher City and the American Legion Post 535 in Beecher City.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Tucker of Cowden; children: Judy (Larry) Kuykendall of Effingham, Cheryl (Jim) Stigers of Cowden, Jack (Diane) Tucker of Cowden, Robert (Brenda) Tucker of Green Creek; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren with #11 on the way; nephew, Randy Tucker of Cowden and sister-in-law, Peggy Tucker of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mervin Tucker.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the First Christian Church in Cowden with Reverend Darrell Hinkle officiating. Burial will take place in Mound Cemetery with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m-12:45 p.m. at the church with Masonic rites by the Greenland Masonic Lodge #665 of Beecher City at 12:45 p.m. Memorials may be made in Floyd's name to the First Christian Church of Cowden. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden is assisting the family.
