On August 21, 2021, Iris Ruth Stewart “Grandma Mud” was called to heaven at the Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham surrounded by her loving family.
Iris was born on September 15, 1929, in Mode, the daughter of Bernard “Popeye” and Mildred “MeMe” Gruenewald. Iris enjoyed doting on her family, her furry companions and playing scrabble. She worked for the Illinois Glove Company for many years. She married Jack Stewart Sr. and they were blessed with seven children: Walter Kelley (Dorothy) Stewart, Jack Jr. (Tina) Stewart, Roger Stewart, Mary Katherine Stewart, Ralph (Karen) Stewart, Anita (Stan Sr.) Russell and William (Lisa) Stewart.
She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren: Linda Barker, Mike Stewart, Kurt Bowen, Shana Hieman, Joey Stewart, Daniel “Danny” Stewart, Kevin Stewart, Stephanie Roley, Vanessa Rehkemper, Nicholas Roley, Jacqueline Roley, Gary Buehler, Casey Stewart and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Popeye and MeMe; husband, Jack Stewart Sr; children: Roger Stewart, Mary Katherine Stewart and Walter Kelley Stewart and great-grandson, Dakota Ring.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Hubbartt Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Iris’ name to the Effingham County Humane Society. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family.
