Irma (Hatcher) Christman

Irma Christman, 95, of Shelbyville, IL passed away, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family, on Saturday, February 19, 2022, in the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, IL.

Irma was born on January 25, 1927, in Tower Hill, the daughter of William and Maude (Sexton) Hatcher.  She was a 1942 graduate of Red Bud School.  Irma and Noel Christman were married on February 22, 1943, in Shelbyville, and celebrated 63 years of marriage before his passing on June 22, 2006.  Irma worked at Steak n Shake, Kentucky Fried Chicken and as a CNA at various nursing homes in Decatur and Shelbyville.  She enjoyed cooking, reading, watching wildlife and living on the farm in Henton. 

Surviving are two daughters:  Phyllis Gay of Milwaukee, WI and Janet Mitchell of Shelbyville; son, Mike Christman of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren:  Mark Fleischmann, Cheryl Macfarlane, Tina Dow, Diana Murphy, Cindy Hamm, Larry Gay and Pam Gay and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Linda Lou McCain and grandson, Paul Gay.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Burial will take place in Brunswick Cemetery in rural Shelbyville.  Memorials may be made to the Shelbyville Manor and mailed to 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
