Jerry W. Boyer, of Windsor, Illinois, died Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 82 years of age. Jerry was born March 22, 1941, in Kansas, Illinois, the son of the late Charles and Ruth Boyer. Jerry was an incredibly devoted son and reliable brother to six, four of whom have preceded him in death.
Jerry married his ‘one and only’ love Marge Agnes Karpus, on April 28, 1962. Surviving are his wife of 62 years and four children, Lori Tally (Dane) of Westfield, Jeri Boyer of Covington, IN, Adam Boyer of Windsor, and Amanda Hargan (Chris) of Waterloo. Amongst his greatest treasures include his eight grandchildren, Jacob (Ashlie) and Jesse Gray, Seth Tally, Austin and Carter Boyer, and Parker, Connor and Annalyn Hargan, along with one great-grandchild, Russell Gray.
Jerry served many important roles and held numerous responsibilities throughout his incredible life. His love for and dedication to his family, as a proud husband, dad, and papa were perhaps his favorite. Jerry’s love of the St Louis Cardinals was beyond typical fandom; his passion was infectious inspiring what will be generations of obsessed Cards fans. Jerry loved the Fighting Illini and on any given day of the week could be found watching a sporting event on television. A caretaker of his family and of his domain, he enjoyed caring for his lawn and every year producing an abundance of vegetables from his well-tended garden. A highly intelligent and entertaining man, Jerry generously shared his wisdom and history through incredible storytelling. Jerry was admired by many friends and coworkers, demonstrating undeniable leadership and emanating trustworthiness, kindness and reliability. Simply stated, Jerry Boyer was an incredible man truly loved by so many.
On Sunday, December 3, 2023, family and friends will join to celebrate his legacy with some time for fellowship beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. funeral service at Lovins-Lockart Funeral home in Windsor. A private burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon. Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is assisting the family.
