JoAn Marie (Doty) Evans, 83, of Beecher City, IL passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
JoAn was born on October 12, 1937, in Loudon Township in rural Beecher City, the daughter of W. Wilson and L. Faye (Doty) Doty. She married Raymond I. Evans on April 11, 1956, in Beecher City, and they celebrated 38 years of marriage before his passing on June 9, 1994. JoAn retired from Fedders Corporation in Effingham after 34 years of service. She was also a familiar face in the Beecher City Branch Library where she served as the librarian for 18 years. JoAn was a member of the Beecher City Evangel United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed going to the casinos, reading, visiting with family and traveling.
She leaves her sons: Bill (Myrna) Evans, Greg (Terri) Evans and Jeff (Georgia) Evans; daughter-in-law, Jean Evans; 12 grandchildren: Steve (Melissa) Evans, Andrew Evans, Rachel (Alex) Mayfield, Daniel (Ashley) Evans, Jessica Washburn, Shane (Kelsey) Evans, Chris Evans, Amber Evans, Staci (Chris) Whitt, Amanda (James) DeMenet, Adam (Samantha) Evans and Valerie (Chris) Bohner; 25 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Robert Devore of Beecher City.
JoAn was preceded in death by her parents, W. Wilson and L. Faye Doty; husband, Raymond I. Evans; son, Michael Evans; grandson, John Evans; granddaughter, Ashley Marquis; sister, Betty Faye Devore; brothers: Danny Doty, William “Bill” W. Doty and Marion C. Doty.
An Eastern Star Prayer Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. followed by the visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Beecher City Evangel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jessie George officiating. Burial will take place in Beecher City Cemetery. Memorials may be made in JoAn’s name to the Beecher City Branch Library or the Beecher City Evangel United Methodist Church and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, %JoAn Evans, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family.
