John W. Craig

John W. Craig, 69, of Windsor, IL passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL with his children by his side.

John was born on October 6, 1950, in Neoga, IL, the son of Phyllis (Adams) Craig and Kale Craig (deceased). Phyllis then married Ira "Bud" Fritts. John married Teresa Rice and they were blessed with two daughters, Shannon and Tawnya. John then married Beth Butler and they were blessed with two sons, Dylan and John II. John proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a welder and fabricator for many years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, guns, family and friends. He was a respected 28-year club member of the Pranksters MC. Anyone that met John could not help but love him. He had the biggest heart and would happily help anyone he could. He left a huge imprint on many lives and will be deeply missed. He was simply the best!

Surviving are his wife, Beth Craig of Windsor; four children: Shannon O'Brien of Mattoon, Tawnya (Shannon) Marshall of Sullivan, John Craig II of Clay City and Dylan Butler of Windsor; five grandchildren: CJ, Gavyn, Jaxx, Andy and Keegan; nine siblings: Genean Hendrix of Windsor, Vera Ann Lumpp of Windsor, Ellis (Pauline) Craig of Windsor, Sandy (Jack) McGovern of Pana, Kalea (Jim) Turner of Clarksville, TN, Rick (Sheila) Fritts of Windsor, Steve ( Margaret) Fritts of Stewardson, Linda (John) Allen of Farina and Joyce Richeson of Decatur and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Jim Craig and infant brother, Kenneth Craig.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of John W. Craig will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the VFW Post 6410 in Sullivan. Military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. Food will be provided by the VFW Post 6410. Memorials may be made to the family. Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is assisting the family.
