Michael "Mike" Loren Macklin

Michael “Mike” Loren Macklin, 83, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Shelbyville, Illinois, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, with loved ones by his side. 

Mike was born on February 10, 1940, in Shelbyville, the son of Loren and Ruth (White) Macklin.  He was a 1958 graduate of Shelbyville High School and a veteran of the United States Army.  Mike married Patricia Pogue on May 25, 1973, and they were blessed with 49 years of marriage.  Mike worked for the Shelby Electric Cooperative for 25 years.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4829 in Shelbyville.  Mike enjoyed woodworking, fishing, bowling and making people laugh.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Pat Macklin of Effingham; son, Rob (Stacey) Macklin of Effingham; three granddaughters:  Paige, Jessie and Ella; two great-granddaughters:  Denise and Sarah; brother-in-law, John (Jacki) Pogue of Shelbyville and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Macklin and Joe Ann Lee.

A memorial gathering will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
