Nancy Lee Messmore

Nancy Lee Messmore, 82, of Findlay, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana with loved ones by her side.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay with Reverend Tim Moon officiating. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the Findlay United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Foundation.

Nancy was born October 31, 1934, in Findlay, the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Harbert) Stewardson. She married Bill Messmore on June 23, 1957 at the Findlay United Methodist Church. Bill passed away October 8, 2015.

Nancy was devoted to her family and they to her. Her grandchildren will miss the extra special meals they received at grandma's house, as she was an excellent cook. She enjoyed flower gardening and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. She was a member of the Findlay Eastern Star and the Findlay United Methodist Church where she was the secretary for 50 years and where she taught Sunday School and led the children's choir of Sunday School. Nancy was the librarian at the Findlay Grade School and the secretary/bookkeeper at the Findlay High School for many years. She was given special recognition for her work with the Findlay Alumni Association.

She is survived by daughters Julie (David) Bernstein and Jane Messmore, both of Findlay; grandchildren Wyatt (Letitia) Bernstein of Bethany, Trevor Bernstein of Findlay and Rachel Bernstein of Findlay; great-grandchildren Trey Hall of Findlay, Cannon and Kinzley Bernstein both of Bethany.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Bill, brother Harold Stewardson and sister Helen Prosser.
