Shayna Jo Thompson

Shayna Jo Thompson, 38, of Herrick, Illinois, received her angel wings with her family by her side on Thursday, March 9, 2023, in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.

Shayna was born on December 30, 1984, in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, the daughter of Jerry Dean and Janice Thompson. Shayna was a 2003 graduate of Cowden-Herrick High School.  She loved and was a great athlete in several sports. Shayna worked at the Altamont Lutheran Care Center and had future plans to attend college and pursue her degree in the medical field.

Shayna is survived by her parents, Dean and Jan of Herrick; brother, Cody Thompson of Herrick; sister, Sacha and Eric Young of Clinton, and brother, Tanner and Angie Thompson of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews:  Ryanne and Ben, Shad, Chance, Sophie, Ellie, and Meiya, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Shayna was preceded in death by her grandparents:  Ralph and Bunea Thompson and Harry and Dorothy Mills.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in the Herrick Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Huddleston and Pastor Terry Walters officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, in the Herrick Baptist Church.  Burial will take place in Myers Cemetery in Herrick.  Memorials may be made in honor of Shayna to her family and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
