Timothy Rea Smith

Timothy Rea Smith, 59, of Saint Peter, IL passed away, in his sleep, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL on Friday, April 23, 2021.   

Tim was afflicted by a rare form of pneumonia and compounding conditions which shut down his respiratory system and ultimately claimed his life.  He fought to stay, but finally left us with no fear in his heart.

Tim was a Christian, a loving father, and a creative soul. He personally and professionally served a variety of local Effingham area businesses and national brands with his voice and audio/visual production skills. His warm nature always made those around him feel welcome and comfortable, and he could always make anyone laugh.  Tim happily served God as an active member of the Kaskaskia Church in Beecher City.

Tim is survived by his wife, Debbi Smith; son, Corey and Corey’s wife Jessica Smith; daughter, Jessica DeGennaro; grandson, Brody DeGennaro; twin brother, Jim Smith; brother, Mike Smith; stepmother, Jan Smith; stepsister, Elicia Slate-Mont and uncle, Tom Smith.  He will be missed by everyone who knew him and will always be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Smith and mother, Carol Smith.

The funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 in the Kaskaskia Church in Beecher City with Pastor Nick Robertson officiating.  Private graveside services will be held in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville.  Memorials may be made in Tim’s name to the Kaskaskia Church and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main Street, Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
