Vickey Sue Rose

Vickey Sue Rose, 79, of Bethany, IL, formerly of LaFontaine, IN, passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at her home.

Vickey was born on July 23, 1940 in Andrews, IN to Howard and Lela (Gard) Gilbert. Vickey married James Charles Rose in Mount Etna, IN on April 27, 1957 and he passed away on November 1, 2007. Vickey was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, working in the yard, feeding the birds, working puzzles, and dancing at the Moose Lodge. She was an avid George Jones fan and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her two sons: Lawrence (Susan) Rose of Bethany, IL and James (Evelyn) Rose, Jr. of Wabash, IN; three sisters: Lora (Mike) Gilbert Gamble of Andrews, IN, Sharon Gilbert McClese of Andrews, IN and Iris Ann Gilbert White of Valparaiso, IN; 12 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Shelly Rose Johnson; infant daughter, Rebecca Rose; brother, Kevin Gilbert; two sisters: Eunice Pulley and Genene Colpetzer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, IN with David Phillips officiating. Burial will take place in Memorial Lawns Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service. Memorials may be made in Vickey's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Local arrangements were handled by Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay, IL.
