William "Bill" Brooks Jones

William “Bill” Brooks Jones, 97, of Beecher City, IL passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, in HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Bill was born on October 25, 1925, in Herrick, the son of Ray and Eva (Holman) Jones.  He was a United States Navy veteran of WWII.  Bill and Lois Eileen Anderson were married in St. Charles, MO on November 8, 1944 and were blessed with 72 years of marriage before her passing on May 28, 2017.  Bill worked for Exxon Oil Company for many years.  He enjoyed bowling, softball, woodworking and storytelling.

He leaves behind his daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Laffoon of Woodlake, CA; three grandchildren:  Heidi Laffoon, T.C. Laffoon and Cassie (Tracy) Barber; five great-grandchildren:  Swayze, Styler, Vivianne, Sorelle and Graylee and many nieces and nephews. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Eva Jones; wife, Lois; son, Kerry “Butch” Jones; brother, Mike Jones; daughter-in-law, Judy Jones and son-in-law, Tim “Boomer” Laffoon.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2022, in the First Christian Church in Cowden with Pastor Barry West officiating.  Burial will take place in Beecher City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Cowden and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
