Owner / Funeral Director & Embalmer
Aaron was raised in Amboy and is 1987 graduate of Amboy High School; a 1989 graduate of Highland Community College in Freeport; a 1990 graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Mortuary Science; a 1991 graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Healthcare Management. He is a licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer and Life Insurance Agent (to assist with prearrangements). He spent his first 23 years at Walker Mortuary in Freeport before acquiring LGH Funeral Homes in 2015. He recently celebrated his 29th year as a Funeral Director. He lives in Shelbyville with his wife of 28 years, Devi, and daughter Abbi. Aaron has a love for the outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting or just taking in nature.
Devi was also raised in Amboy and is a 1986 graduate of Amboy High School; a 1989 graduate of Sauk Valley College in Dixon; a 1992 graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant following graduation. Devi has worked alongside Aaron in the funeral industry for 28 years working behind the scenes to ensure all business practices run smoothly. Her background as a CPA helps to guide the day-to-day operations and she has extensive experience in the insurance industry to assist families with the life insurance claims process.
Abbi was raised in Freeport and Shelbyville and is a 2020 graduate of Shelbyville High School. She currently attends St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa where she is a member of the “Bee’s” competitive dance team. Abbi has worked alongside her parents in the funeral industry her entire life, filling in wherever help is needed.
Dave was born in Shelbyville, graduated from Findlay High School and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He is married to Nancy Bitzer and they have three children and six grandchildren. Dave ran construction companies for 40 years, retiring in 2013. He recently retired as chairman of the Shelby County Board and currently serves as vice-chairman of HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville. Dave has been a part of the LGH Funeral Home family for eight years.
Jim was born and raised in Shelbyville. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller and was honorably discharged in 1975. He and his wife, Patty, lived in Bloomington where he worked in retail for several years. In 1983, Jim purchased a retail store in Shelbyville and operated it until 2013, upon his retirement. Jim and Patty have two children, Gregory and Allison and five wonderful grandchildren. Jim has been a part of the LGH Funeral Home family for over 10 years.
Kevin is a lifelong resident of Shelby County, the son of Forest “Frosty” and Joan Herron. He is a graduate of Findlay High School. He received his Associates Degree from Lake Land College with a major in Music. Kevin is well known in the area for his musical talents. Whether it be tuning pianos, directing various choirs, playing organ for the local churches, or playing in his own band, Forever Gig. Kevin worked at Graphic Packaging for over 19 years and recently retired from Walmart after 13 years. Kevin and his wife, Jane live in Findlay and are the parents of three boys: Kyle, Jonathan and Joel.
Lisa is a lifelong resident of Shelby County, the daughter of the late Roger and Naomi (Ruot) Corley. She is a graduate of Cowden/Herrick High School. Lisa has two daughters, Ashley (Josh) Dunaway and Jennifer (Davy) Fouts along with six grandchildren. Lisa has been a valuable part of the LGH Funeral Home family for over 25 years filling in wherever she is needed.
Lynn has lived his entire life in Shelby County. His wife, Kay, is a retired kindergarten teacher. He has two children, Michl and Brandi. Lynn is an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Much of his free time is spent following and cheering for his three grandchildren. Lynn has been a part of the LGH Funeral Home family for 12 years.
Shelby County Coroner/Funeral Assistant
Brad graduated from Shelbyville High School, is a United States Army veteran and earned his Associates Degree from Lake Land College. He retired from the Illinois State Police after 27 years of service. Brad served as the Chief Deputy Coroner in Shelby County for eight years and was recently elected as the coroner for Shelby County. Brad can often be found on Lake Shelbyville fishing or on one of his many trips to Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron or Lake Michigan. Brad has been a part of the LGH Funeral Home family for over 12 years.
